Fairhotel in Brno: the day I slept in an old glass factory

October 19, 2018

I would have never imagined traveling to Brno in the Czech Republic, but as we had a very long train journey from Venice to Prague, we decided to make an overnight stop in Brno to rest and at the same time to discover a new city. I am really glad that we took the decision to stay there, as the city is really beautiful and we had a wonderful good night sleep at a hotel that used to be an old glass factory.

How was our stay?

We arrived at the train station at night, very tired and hungry, so we decided to first have dinner in the historic center before heading to the hotel, which is about a 10-minute taxi ride from the old town. We would have a few hours the next day to explore the city.

I was very curious to see the Fairhotel, because it is located in an old glass factory, in fact they have very interesting photos of what the building looked like a few decades ago. In reality, we are talking about a completely remodeled building, with a fully contemporary hotel and where we rested wonderfully.

Our room was large with a very comfortable bed from which it was difficult to get out off, actually I missed breakfast because I preferred to rest well, since the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle in a very quiet area of the city. As we were just halfway through our trip and I was already so tired, it was in effect the best option to have stayed to rest well in this hotel.

Even though I sacrificed breakfast for a few more hours of sleep, Patrick did have it and said it was a buffet style. It sounds exaggerated, but there comes a time when traveling around so many places for a month and a half, running with your luggages between trains, etc., becomes exhausting. I needed a good break even if it was only for 24 hours -or less-.

What I didn’t miss was the tour they gave us around the facilities (the hotel staff was very friendly by the way), since it has a very large terrace where they carry out different activities for guests. Obviously, they also have a spa with a Finnish-style sauna where you have the steam area, the pool with ice water and where they also offer other services.

What type of traveler do I recommend it to?

The hotel is very comfortable for any traveler, especially in terms of value for money. When you stay here, you will understand why it has such great recommendations, even if it is not in the heart of the historic center. As it also offers a parking, it seems ideal if you decide to tour the country by car, because I certainly recommend including this charming city in your itinerary and thus getting to know something more about the Czech Republic.

*Thanks to the Fairhotel for its friendly hospitality.
